My husband calls me the ''crazy chicken lady''- I love them!!
I guess you do too if your looking here.

We are located only approximately 45 minutes from Adelaide CBD at Gumeracha, in the picturesque Adelaide Hills, where our farmlet has the space for our poultry to roam during the day.
I enjoy breeding and raising beautiful coloured birds with great pet attitude that will gracefully wander around your yard, for you and your family to enjoy watching with the added bonus of lovely home grown eggs.
I endeavour to source the best quality eggs for incubation and hatching.
My passion are the original standard sized pure bred heritage birds, with some cross breeds for the stunning feather colouring that occurs with alot of chicken and poultry crosses.
Currently working on breeding  Orpingtons and Rhode Island Reds which were originally imported from interstate. Share the excitement of my first batch of pure bred Orpington chicks, which are growing out beautifully by checking out the photo of the cuties! ( at top of 'poultry pics' page).

The latest addition to the family is a young Rhode Island Red cockerel with vibrant mahogany red feathering to breed with my girls, hoping he will mature in spring for mating..

ORPINGTONS (the original english chicken)

The perfect backyard pet, very docile and friendly, great for the kids to handle and there is an array of fantastic colouring aswell. These birds are great all year egg layers - can handle cooler weather better than alot of other breeds and able to lay eggs right through winter. As Orpingtons are such a large bird, they need plenty of cool water and shade in the hot months. Not to be confused with the Australorp, which was derived from this breed, but bred to suit Australian conditions. This breed  have a 'fluffier' feathered appearance where the Australorp have a closer, tighter, harder feather. Orpingtons feather out to almost covering the whole length of their legs and have a very small head. I have varied colours including blue, black and splash. These birds are my favs!

RHODE ISLAND REDS

Picture
Rhode Island Red Pullets
Wonderfully rare in South Australia, I have sourced eggs from W.A for this breed. These beautiful mahogany red feathered and yellow skinned birds are commonly confused with the "production reds" or "Isa Browns"
These are a very rare breed as crossing them with other breeds to make them a production red has gone along way into losing their original dual purpose, egg and meat bird. A very docile but vocal bird with an easy going temperament.
Fairly slow growing to mature in comparison to the other smaller framed birds, but well worth the wait to see the gorgeous mahogany red feathers glistening in the sunshine!

A Beautiful Young Rhode Island Red Rooster!

DOUBLE LACED GOLD BARNVELDERS

Picture
These are gorgeous natured birds.Very inquisitive and docile backyard gardeners.
Beautiful gold double lacing against black with a beetle green sheen seen in the sunlight. A medium - large bird fully grown, which lays plenty of dark brown speckled eggs. These are one of the original heritage breeds bred for the dual purpose of a good sized table bird and large eggs. We do not see many pure Barnvelders, as bantams are very popular now days. Not a lot of choice for  these in South Australia, I have sourced interstate bloodlines for this breed.
